Turok Dinosaur Hunter

Turok Dinosaur Hunter is a pretty underrated gem for the Nintendo 64 released in 1997, and i can tell you, it's a really good game. Underrated does not equal bad, just... not very well known.

You control Turok, son of stone, and you have to save your tribe by killing dinosaurs and stopping Campaigner's forces from ruling the lands. In core, it plays like a first-person shooter, and there is a lot of variety, both enemies you kill, and weapons you can wield. Jumping IS required here, it can make the difference between life or death, take my word for it.

Being good here is not enough, you have to conserve your ammo and pick health pickups only when you really need them. The stages are full of traps, some of which are instant death-inducing. There are a few bosses in between stages, and they are hard, no matter what difficulty you're playing in. Perhaps the most exclusive feature of Turok Dinosaur Hunter is the free roaming. You don't have to take a linear path, you can go pretty much wherever you want to. You're not forced to push every button or kill every enemy. You can find keys hidden in stages that allows you to go to other stages. There are also the Chronocepter pieces, by getting all of them you get the allmighty Chronocepter, a weapon so powerful, it kills almost everything in one hit. Protip : Don't aim at own face.

Turok is overall a fun to play FPS, intended for pros, but has a nice learning curve for newbies as well. Some places are frustrating to get by, but it was exciting from beggining to end.

FINAL RATING : 8.2

Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is considered by many the best Sonic game ever. It was originally released for the Genesis/Mega Drive(depending on where you live) in 1994, and since then has been claiming the heart of many gamers up to this day.

Sonic 3 also was the first Sonic game to introduce a save system, good for those who are about to go to school or work. There are new shields Sonic can get, a thunder shield that attracts rings and allows Sonic to jump again in mid-air, a fire shield that protects Sonic from heat and allows him to dash forward in mid-air, and a bubble shield which allows Sonic to breath underwater, not to mention you can also bounce around with it.

The stages are very well made and easy to memorize, there are many shortcuts, and a lot of content. There is a multiplayer mode, but it's not as robust as the main story. The special stages come back as well, and they are as challenging as ever. Getting all chaos emeralds allows Sonic to turn into Super Sonic when he has 50 rings. And the bosses, they are all very interesting, and there are many of them.

If you have never played Sonic the Hedgehog 3, don't be afraid to try. This game has an unforgettable soundtrack, some songs were even made by Michael Jackson himself! Not kidding. Plus, it's easy to pick up and play, and it forgives you for being a bad player.
